Our Schedule
We are so excited to bring you a wide variety of activities: panels, workshops, parties, and more!
Our Provisional Timetable
All of the following schedules are subject to change, so keep an eye on this space for details.
Friday, October 31
Saturday, November 1
Sunday, November 2
Sunday Evening @ The Roxy
A panel is, in short, one or more people (actors, crew, fans, and more) talking about whatever they want, as long as it relates to the show! Past OFMD fan event panels have been about writing, fan art, cosplay, history, sea shanties, lighthouses, queer sea creatures...the sky's the limit.
Panels at The Wee Con will be held in the main theatre (our biggest hall) on Friday evening, and between 9:30am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
We aim to live-stream as many of the panels as possible. And as a bonus, for people who would like to spend time socializing and crafting but don't want to miss the panels, our upper hall venue has a screen and audio system, so we are hopeful that we may be able to stream the panels in there while they are being recorded in the main hall.
Some of our panels include:
Historical Pirates for Writers led by Obliquity
High above the dusky sea (Scottish lighthouses) led by Isabel
The $%#'s a Look - A 90-minute Epic Cosplay Panel with a selection of cosplayers discussing their process
A fic writer's guide to the galaxy by Dylan at 12pm
Filmmaking - LGBTQIA+ / pirate film history by Obliquity
An Examination of Ed Teach by Zarich
Syphilis, scurvy and sickness at sea by Langerhan
Stab me, a beginner's guide to trauma by Anneline
The David Jenkins School of Historical (In)Accuracy - a very Sensible and Totally Authentic panel, wrangled by Rattie and a Crack Team of Very Definitely Historically Accurate People
Myths and folklore by Lily
Live podfic and AMA featuring BabyKraken, HappyDaiz, FullofHope and Ro
The On-Screen Music of Our Flag Means Death by Philippa
And many others!
Panels
Workshops are much smaller than panels, with a maximum of 20 attendees. They are also more focused with guided group crafting sessions or demonstrations. Past OFMD fan event workshops have included acting, writing, crafting, figure drawing, and more.
Workshops at The Wee Con will be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in our two workshop rooms. Workshops will not be live-streamed because of limited space and access, but workshop organizers may opt to provide some videos in advance for online participants to look at.
Some of our workshops include:
Muppet-making demonstration
Mermaid crochet
Knitting
Lino-cutting
Celtic & Ogham Orthography
Seaglass wire-wrapping
Longfic writing
Our Flag Means Poetry: Fandom + Poetry in Performance
The Coat
Drabble writing
